Veterans Day Parade

Downtown Birmingham, November 12
Join us as we honor our veterans, and celebrate the freedom that their dedication and sacrifice afford us every day. Stand and be counted. Parade begins at 1:30pm with a new route around Railroad Park.

Dia de los Muertos

Pepper Place, November 2
This event has become one of the largest and most popular events in the city because of its attention to tradition and the cultural significance it celebrates. Personal remembrances (ofrendas), family crafts, puppet shows, music, procession, memorial roll call, local artists’ market (mercado), food and beverage vendors, face painters and more are all part of this unique cross-cultural celebration.

Vulcan Run 10K

This is the 44th running of this Birmingham classic 10k. This year’s 10k event is again the RRCA Alabama State 10k Championship Race.

Winter Wonderland

McWane Science Center, Begins November 17
Guests can sled down the popular giant slide between the third and second floors in the museum. Or try the zip line, now longer than ever before! Children can even ride a train inside the museum! Families also have a chance to see toy trains of every shape and size zipping around the tracks in the Magic of Model Trains area.

Railroad Park, Begins November 23
Take a spin on the ice with the Birmingham cityscape as the backdrop. Ice skating opens the day after Thanksgiving and runs through January 6.

Mutt-cracker

Alabama Theatre, November 30
The Mutt-cracker, a new twist on a “classic tail,” is essentially Birmingham Ballet’s The Nutcracker with the addition of dogs. The holiday favorite is brought to life with masterful story-telling and exciting dancing by professionals as well as local talented aspiring youth.
